Senior Moments
By Mary Raymond

I cannot find my keys again,
The second time this week –
My reading glasses and my pen
Are playing hide and seek.

I must retrace my steps because
That might produce a clue
Reminding me of what it was
I started out to do.

If we should meet some other place,
For instance, at the mall,
Though I may recognize your face,
Your name I won’t recall.

Has Fate contrived to do me harm?
Did some dementia strike me?
I figure it’s a false alarm –
There’s just too many like me!
