Bully for the Bulls!
Executive Director Richard Nordsiek puts on his game face, and his Bull’s horns, to show he means business during his match in the Morningside’s annual Bulls and Belles Bocce Ball Tournament. Held during the month of September, this fun-filled tournament pits the gentlemen of Morningside (The Bulls) against the ladies of Morningside (The Belles) in a series of bocce ball games. At the conclusion of the tournament, the side with the most wins earns the bragging rights of Bulls and Belles champions for the year. Alas, it was the Bulls who, once again, claimed the victory with a 14-8 score. Better luck next year, Belles!
A One and a Two and…
The musically talented members of the Orange County Swing Band recently performed a concert in Lakeview Hall featuring numerous Big Band swing tunes and toe-tapping musical selections to the delight of the audience. Many of the band members also perform in the larger Orange County Concert Band, which will be featured in concert at Morningside later this year.
During the Autumn season, the new Fall Menu will feature a delicious Maple Roasted Butternut Squash Salad, which consists of a spring-mix topped with butternut squash, cranberries, caramel pecans and blue cheese, served with a honey-lemon Dijon vinaigrette dressing. You can also top off this salad with your choice of broiled shrimp, chicken or salmon. The Food and Beverage Department held a contest which challenged staff members to offer ideas for new items to be featured on the Fall Menu. The First Place winner was Olga Betancourt, who presented this amazing salad entrée. Congratulations, Olga!
